The value flip, utilitarian NFT’s and the woke mind virus

Welcome back to another newsletter. Having a great 2022 so far and I hope you can say the same, too!

As always, the format is simple:

  1. Ideas I’m thinking about
  2. Resources that are upgrading the quality of my life and/or assisting my evolution
  3. The latest from me

Ideas

When you make content that’s high enough quality, people will want to watch it more than you want them to watch it. After years of putting in rep after rep with content creation, constantly improving, wishing people would watch my content even though almost no one wanted to, the flip has finally occurred. I’m so focused on putting out the best content imaginable and because of this, it’s good enough that people actually want to watch what I put out in the world. It’s helping me finally get some traction and it feels great. Once your skills have been built up through quantity, it’s worth it to focus on quality and optimize your content for growth.

Those that will win with NFT’s are those who create utilitarian value in their projects. As of current, a ton of influencers are playing short-term and sucking their audiences dry for a quick buck by offering an NFT of digital art. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the egotistical motives behind “owning” art in a digital wallet. Who am I trying to impress? But after watching Gary Vaynerchuk speak on NFT’s, I get it now. While most of the art-based NFT projects will flop, those who give their NFT project a utilitarian value — access to clubs, convenience, goods and services — will win massively in this space. It allows them to bring massive value to their audience and their “shareholders” and forever be upgrading the value proposition of the NFT beyond just the egotistical status of “owning” a piece of art or something similar. That’s why I’d bet on Gary and NELK if I could because I can see that they understand this and they care about giving their audience a big ROI.

Protect your mornings at all costs. You win the day by first winning the morning. If you let others hijack this magical time, it’s going to be really hard to build the momentum required to win the rest of the day and move forward in the key areas that are essential to your goals.

Documenting the essentials is incredibly worth it. After I had accepted that I didn’t have any real-life footage of me during my YouTube gaming days, out of the blue we found some key footage and memories as our family went through old stuff, and it showed me how worthwhile it was to capture key moments from the journey. Someday, you’re going to look back and wish you had more memories, so just start documenting the essentials today.

“Wokeness is a mind virus. […] At its heart, wokeness is divisive, exclusionary, and hateful. It basically gives mean people a shield to be mean and cruel, armoured in false virtue.” —Elon Musk

Your refusal to say no today contributes to tomorrow’s likelihood of authoritarianism, systematic removal of freedoms and at the most extremes, eventual war.

It’s a better idea than ever to home school your kids and then never send them to college/university. It is appalling what I’m seeing come out of schools right now — confusing children about their gender while they should be making arts and crafts in Kindergarten, asking them for their preferred pronouns while they should be learning about math, teaching them that they’re oppressors/oppressed based on the colour of their skin, then by the time they exit college/university, they’ve been so brainwashed with bullshit that many become full-blown leftists if not full-on woke. The fact that very few exit formal schooling with conservative values should concern you. This is dangerous as fuck, and definitely done by design.

If you support authoritarian mandates you’re not a real liberal. So many have forgotten what they signed up for many moons ago and it’s shown based on their worldview in the past couple of years. Classic liberals are often conservatives and libertarians have somehow, by definition, become more liberal than the stereotypical 2022 liberal. It’s time for liberals to become liberal again.

Resources

Andy and DJ Cruise the Internet: Elite Getting Richer, Djokovic Leaving Australia Disappointed & Ghislaine Maxwell’s John Doe’s. Podcast episode of the week for me. So much so, that I listened multiple times. This episode was super thought provoking, especially on the elite vs. the masses. The top 10 people on Forbes doubled their net worth throughout COVID. This should be a red flag, as those same people have been heavily “for” this pandemic. The whole episode was pure fire though and I highly recommend you listen. It will open your eyes to some crazy events that’s are going on but are rarely talked about.

Moving Towards The American Dream on Real AF. A lengthy conversation about America and race between 3 republicans and the co-founder of BLM Greater New York; 3 black men and 1 white man. There’s a lot that Hawk said that I disagree with and I think he’s too divisive and in too much of a victim mindset, but I think he is genuinely coming from a really good place. For me, Tommy Vext was the real star of the show and showcased his recent evolution. Really fascinating conversation between seemingly polar opposites of the political spectrum, yet much more similar than you might imagine.

Matt Walsh on Dr. Phil debating transgenderism. Controversial as hell, but this was so interesting. I’m hesitant to talk about the transgender topic because I’m still learning about it, but so far here’s what concerns me: If these trans activists couldn’t even define what a woman was from a first-principles perspective, why should they be in charge of telling us what our values should be? When something is grounded in ideology rather than reality, you’re playing with fire.

Shoulder Touch by Daniel Pemberton (from Into The Spider-Verse soundtrack). Played this a ton in the last week (and of course, it’s added to The Hero’s Journey, too). Great song.

Hated in the Nation. A great episode of Black Mirror that not only contained incredible cinematography, but also a fascinating take on digital cancel culture at extreme levels and the potential consequences of such behaviour. Highly recommend. Also, this was allegedly inspired by one of the writer’s experiences on twitter. Lol.

The beach is overrated and the deleted scenes. This past summer, I went to the beach with my boys from high school and I documented the experience to test out the hypothesis: is the beach still as overrated? One of my best videos yet from a storytelling and video editing perspective. The deleted scenes however, are mostly just us being us (which in itself is just entertaining, lol)

We hit 250 subscribers on the main channel and the drone video passed 10K, which is the first time I’ve done that in a decade! Really grateful for all of this recent traction 🙂

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.

Until next week, be well.
