Welcome back to another newsletter. As always, the format is simple:
- Ideas I’m thinking about
- Resources that are upgrading my quality of life
- The latest from me
Let’s get into it.
Ideas
The best way to hide plain evil is to wrap it in false virtue. You effortlessly manipulate those who lead with their hearts instead of their minds, and you easily villainize anyone who sees right through the front and opposes it.
So-called “conspiracy theorists” are just ahead of the curve. Almost everything they’ve predicted has come to pass. If you’re not at least entertaining their warnings, you’re not thinking for yourself. You’ve been told to think they’re crazy and have lost their mind. Who tells you that? Why do they tell you that? Might they, perhaps, benefit from branding anyone who knows too much as having lost their minds? If someone was sharing all your plans in advance in a way you didn’t like, wouldn’t you do everything you could to discredit them and make them seem completely crazy?
If you’re going to get mad at someone, don’t get mad at the opposing party. Get mad at the people up top who are orchestrating the bullshit, not the people who are falling for it. Would you be mad at a non-player character in a video game who couldn’t think for themselves? Of course not. But in real life, when people act like NPCs — zero thinking, all defaults — we can find ourselves pissed at them. Instead, direct your anger up top for this isn’t about left vs. right or black vs. white, it’s a top vs. bottom. The moment you realize that is a special one. Or, better yet, instead of getting mad at people within politics — just heal the anger. It allows you to deal with the same situations except more objectively and calmly, stealing less energy.
If you’re overwhelmed by a huge project, break things down into manageable sections. For me, I couldn’t manage all of the photography backlogs from summer 2021 that I’m working through right now because it’s fucking large. But by breaking things down into individual pieces of content within a database and setting up a status, I’m no longer plagued by inaction. I can manage this. One piece of content at a time.
The people who told you that the Wuhan lab leak wasn’t real, that Hunter Biden’s laptop was fake, that vaccines didn’t kill people are now telling you that Ukraine’s Biolabs aren’t real. Use your brain.
Real friends give real truth. If they can’t take the truth, they’re likely not your real friends.
It’s okay to not have everything you want now. Step by step, you’re working towards it. And that’s half the fun, if not more.
Your mind will tell you one thing but listen to your intuition above all. Your mind’s frame of reference is very limited, but your intuition is accessing a limitless supply of information.
Resources
Tim Dillon — your favourite comedian’s favourite comedian. Out of the blue a few months ago, I was introduced to him by the YouTube algorithm recommending me a clip from him on Impaulsive. I watched it, then I watched a little more. YouTube kept sending me more, and now I’m seeing him all over — both through the algorithm and elsewhere — now that I know who he is. I’ve been listening to him on other people’s podcasts and it’s been my go-to for cleaning and other tasks where I want my mind to relax and recharge. I’m obsessed with him right now because not only is he fucking hilarious without even trying, but he’s also damn reasonable and informational so I feel like I’m learning while also being entertained.
The Adam Project. This was wholesome and a good concept, executed in a good way. Also, Ryan Reynolds is one of my favourite actors. And Zoey Saldana is gorgeous. The whole film was a W and a rare one in the shit storm of what Hollywood is putting out right now. Pretty good soundtrack, too.
Molson Cold Shots. Beer is way more expensive in Canada than it is in the US, and as a beer lover, I’ll gladly take these prices and the taste. Highly impressed and I’ve been drinking more of these than I’d like to admit lol. 1Thanks to Mackenzie for introducing me to these!
Notion’s 2.15 update. I’ve been using Notion since the summer of ‘19 to manage any aspect of my life that’s working and I’ve been publicly very obsessed about how great of a tool it is. But this update has fundamentally changed the game in regards to databases. Quick filters, tabbed database views, importing views from the data source, adding separate data sources within the same block and increased speed of use, all after they revamped dark mode 2 weeks ago — I’m overwhelmed with joy. I just upgraded a lot of my systems, but this update is so good that I’m going to need to tweak everything again for how badass this is.
Uyghurs In Chinese Concentration Camps Fly Ukrainian Flag So People Will Start Caring About Them by The Babylon Bee. I think this outlines the hypocrisy of these do-gooders on autopilot. Where is there care for anything they weren’t told to care about?
I support the current thing via Elon Musk. It’s just real. It drives me up the wall how dumb people can be. I can’t get over how obsessed people are with supporting Ukraine. If they did any sort of research beyond the surface narratives, they’d realize that they aren’t as good as they’re being marketed. It’s so fucking silly that people are trying so hard to care about this because they’re told they should
Dana White on Impaulsive. Badass. Especially loved when they all addressed the disappearance of the pandemic in lieu of other new narratives.
The latest
2 weeks to flatten the curve, 2 years later. My thoughts on the 2-year anniversary of the beginning of the totalitarianism and tyranny that’s occurred over the past 2 years, which everyone seems to be forgetting about with the new war propaganda. Never forget what they said, what they did, all the damage that occurred to our world, culture and health by consistently lying to us and dressing it up under false virtue.
That’s all for now. Until next week, be well.
Much love,
—Josh
